Why This Site Exists
Ontario has no single office for every people-related record. The City Clerk keeps municipal proceedings and routes city requests. Ontario Building and Planning handle local permit files, while the Police Records Bureau manages police and traffic-report access. At the county level, the San Bernardino County Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk holds deeds, liens, property information, marriage records, and other filings. The San Bernardino Superior Court controls case records, and state agencies maintain business entities, licenses, statewide vital records, and privacy programs.
Historical research has its own path. The Ontario City Library's Model Colony History Room preserves city directories, yearbooks, a biography file, building surveys, and a newspaper index. Bringing these routes together makes it easier to distinguish a current government index from an archive, a self-service search from a formal records request, and an informational result from a certified copy.
Resources Organized Here
- Record-focused sections: public records, voter records, and people directories
- Ontario and county offices: the City Clerk, ARC Recorder-Clerk and Assessor, Superior Court, elections office, and vital-records desks
- Official access routes: public indexes, office counters, mail forms, archive contacts, and California Public Records Act procedures
- Practical distinctions: public versus restricted files, index entries versus document images, and plain copies versus certified copies
Limits on Our Role
Ontario People Search is a privately operated reference site. It is not part of the City of Ontario, San Bernardino County, the State of California, a court, or any records office. Those government custodians remain the source of each official file. Our role has firm limits:
- We do not retrieve, certify, amend, or delete government records
- We cannot verify that a named person currently lives in Ontario
- We cannot remove a profile or entry from an outside database
- We do not provide legal advice about a record or its effect
- We cannot promise that an agency portal, fee, schedule, or office detail has not changed
Only the government custodian can authenticate or correct its record. Ontario People Search is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and no information found through this site may be used for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated decision.
